Setting up your new rain barrel from Palmetto Rain Barrels:

First off, congratulations on your purchase of a new rain barrel!  If this is your first time conserving water or you are a seasoned gardener this is an exciting time as you are doing so much to help prevent erosion, contamination, and most of all you are conserving water.  Did you realize that almost half of all Americans water bill goes towards watering and car care!  That’s a lot of water…..

Getting started

Step 1.

We suggest that you prepare a spot under the downspout with dirt and patio pavers that will help elevate your rain barrel 8-10 inches from ground level.  This space should be about 30”x30”.  This allows for better water flow through your rain barrels and makes the rain barrels much more stable as it collects water.

Step 2.

Measure the height of your downspout from your gutter to the desired height you would like the rain barrels to sit below the downspout.  Mark this spot on the downspout and with a saw cut off your downspout.   Once you have safely removed this piece you now are able to insert the elbow extension which will work as the new diverter for the flow of water into your rain barrels.

Step 3.

Your rain barrel comes shipped with the proper accessories need to collect water and manage your over flow. Now it is time to put your Palmetto Rain Barrel in its place and wait patiently for the next rain fall.
